The Hudl lineup by the British retailer Tesco were popular tablets first released in 2013. Tesco stopped selling Hudl tablets in 2015 and, in 2019, Tesco stopped supporting the Hudl servers, making factory-reset Hudl tablets effectively unusable. Until 2023, there were workarounds that involving changing the date, however it no longer works. This wikiHow shows other workarounds on setting up factory reset Hudl 1 and 2 tablets.

This applies to Hudl 1 tablets, and Hudl 2 tablets running Android KitKat.

Steps

Setting Up Hudl 2 Tablet Running Android KitKat

1. Power on your Hudl 2 tablet. Press and hold the power button until boot animation appears. It's at the right of the tablet in portrait mode, below volume button.
2. Tap Start button once powered on. It's at bottom-right of screen.
3. Tap + Other network button. It's below the available access points. A keyboard should appear.
4. Tap and hold the comma key and drag to Settings key. This open a pop-up dialog showing two options.
5. Tap Google Keyboard settings button. This will open the Google Keyboard settings page.
6. Access the open-source licenses. Tap About Google Keyboard button, which is at the bottom of the page. This will show 3 hyperlinks, tap the second one.
7. Access Google Search. Tap and hold any text in the licenses and tap WEB SEARCH button to open Google Search.
8. Open Settings. In Google Search, tap the search bar, replace with settings in the search bar and tap the app listed.
9. Create a new user.
