Creaming butter and sugar is useful in baking, as it provides structure in baked goods.[1]
Ingredients[edit | edit source]
- Butter
- Sugar
Steps[edit | edit source]
- Put the butter and sugar in a mixing bowl.
- Cream the ingredients. Use a hand or stand mixer to cream these ingredients at medium-to-high speed.
- Time will depend; on medium-to-high speed it will take about 2–3 minutes if making cookies, or 3–5 minutes if making cakes.
- Scrape down the bowl as you cream. This will incorporate the unmixed ingredients you may have on sides.
- Use in recipes.
