Writing a recipe on Wikibooks can be a fun and exciting way to make a recipe, whether it can be an appetizer or a dessert.

Steps

  1. Find an recipe on Wikibooks to check if it does exist. Search for an existing recipe and look through the results to see if the recipe exists.

  2. Cook your own recipe and write directions. Start by writing the ingredients you'll need for the recipe and cook. As you follow, write the procedure for each step.

    • Alternatively, research an existing recipe, whether online or through cookbooks.
  3. Follow the Wikibooks' Cookbook policy. This is one of the most important step as it maintains the integrity and quality of recipes on Wikibooks.

  4. Start creating your own recipe. Search for a desired title, making sure it is title case and starts with "Cookbook:".[1] Click on red link to create the page.

    • You may see a warning that you should not copy content from other copyrighted websites, including wikiHow. wikiHow is licensed under CC-BY-NC-SA 3.0, which is incompatible with Wikibooks' CC-BY-SA 4.0 and GFDL.[2]
  5. Add templates to top of the recipe. This will help people check the number of servings, the difficulty, and the time needed to make the recipe.

    • Add {{Recipe summary}} followed by {{Recipe}} to top of the page.[3]
  6. Add an introduction to recipe. Introductions give people to summarize the recipe. It should have around 2-4 sentences.

    • Make sure you bold the recipe in introduction, e.g. by using '''High-protein pancakes'''
    • Avoid first-person language to ensure neutral point-of-view.[3]
  7. Write out the ingredients. Start by writing a ingredient header (== Ingredients ==) and adding ingredients in bullet points.

    • Add links to units and ingredients.
    • Add conversions if possible.
